This single reason might force you to choose Opera over Chrome
Opera, very well known browser among the mobile and PC users has introduced a new feature in its app that protects the smartphone from cryptocurrency mining. The change that comes as a part of Opera 50 will be limited to few users as the app is in beta stage.
“Opera’s big number 50 release is edging closer to its stable release. Today, we are delivering the release candidate, which includes an innovative anti-Bitcoin mining feature, extended VR360 support for Oculus and Chromecast,” said the company in a blog post.
The limitation is that it is available only for the web version, but is useful in a period of increasing cases of Bitcoin mining using PC and mobile devices.
It is also worth adding here that Opera 50 is the first browser to come with a dedicated Bitcoin protection feature.
It is has been mentioned that some websites keep mining Bitcoins even after you have left them. “But we, as the only major browser with an integrated ad blocker, have a built-in solution to keep miners from trespassing onto your machine,” says Opera.
Users can find ‘NoCoin’ option in Settings (Preferences on macOS) > Basic > Block ads and under the Recommended lists of ad filters.
A recent study has revealed that cryptocurrency mining has mobile phones increased by 34% this year alone. The cybersecurity firm has found at least 35 apps that were mining cryptocurrencies
